It is not meant to feed anything. It's meant to be recognized.

Here's the elegant idea behind UC-II.

In an arthritic joint, cartilage is breaking down, and fragments of type II collagen leak into places the immune system patrols. The immune system, seeing collagen debris where it doesn't belong, treats it as a threat and mounts an inflammatory attack โ€” which damages more cartilage, which releases more fragments, which provokes more attack. UC-II exploits that system. When small amounts of intact type II collagen pass through the gut daily, specialized immune tissue there (Peyer's patches, if you want the term) samples the molecule and files it under "harmless."
